Carbon ceramic tech is taken directly from decades of Formula 1 evolution. It's where they first appeared, and while they're the lightest, most durable rotors around, their F1-like costs are a massive headache for owners of F82 M4s and other F8X M-cars originally equipped with them. Instead of spending $10,000 on replacement front rotors alone, a conversion to the steel discs found on various M2s is a much better option. Converting the F82 M4 to steel rotors at all four corners also requires a pad replacement, but the total cost of the job is around 15% of just the replacement Carbon Ceramic front discs.

In this video, FCP Euro's BMW Expert, Gareth Foley, converts an F82 M4 from Carbon Ceramic Brakes to steel rotors.
