Fishermen in Gaza are risking their lives to catch enough fish to survive. With a heritage dating back thousands of years in Gaza, fishermen like Ramadan Hassan Zidan not only have to contend with changeable weather out at sea but attacks from the Israeli occupation military's boats and soldiers on shore.

Ramadan says he will always fish no matter what, his son died at sea and he spent his whole life at sea, so he feels a duty to keep fishing. In the past month, around 7 of his colleagues have been killed by Israeli military boats patrolling the Gaza shoreline, and he himself was shot at by an Israeli soldier on shore, destroying his boat. Fishermen like Ramadan can catch just enough to survive and trade for vegetables and other necessities.
