The makers of the Indian Constitution incorporated the Directive Principles of State Policy in Part 4 of the constitution. These principles lay down the roadmap for the government to ensure social, economic, and political justice and promote the welfare of the people. These directives are not recognized by the courts but the Principles are considered fundamental in governance. Hence it becomes the duty of the state to apply these principles in making laws to establish a just society.
