According to the POW, the sending of the AFU forces was supposed to project power but it turned out to be stupidity of the Ukrainian command.

'I believe, that it was a try to send people to slaughter. From the very beginning, it would be impossible to do because it's not any other country but Russia. I'm sure, that the command wanted to prove that there are still some power and we are cool. However, they proved us to be fools. All in all, we were smashed and all materiel were burnt,' said he.
AFU servicemen surrendered when Ukrainian convoy was destroyed.
