BREAKING: THERE'S BEEN 2 MASS SHOOTINGS AND 15 PEOPLE SHOT IN JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI IN LAST 4 DAYS

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Six people, including a 3-year-old child, were injured during a mass shooting in Jackson Tuesday night.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Maple Street.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade labeled it a drive-by shooting, with the suspected shooters riding in a gray sedan.

Wade said that the sedan held three to four Black men.

“What is so extremely problematic and concerning for me, [is that] during this incident a three-year-old little girl was shot as well,” said Wade during a press conference on Wednesday.

The girl is expected to recover, but Wade called the event “unacceptable.”

“We still have a population of individuals in the city of Jackson that are reckless individuals, that are cowardice individuals, and that are lawless individuals,” Wade said.

The other people shot were described as a 32-year-old Black female, a 34-year-old Black male, a 27-year-old Black male, a 23-year-old Black female, and a 52-year-old Black female.
