Sheikh Abaadir Umar Al-Rida also known as Aw Abadir or Aw Badir was the legendary founder of Harar and a patron saint in modern-day eastern Ethiopia. The modern Harari people regard him as their common ancestor, as does the Somali Sheekhal clan.
Aw Abadir is the main figure in the Fath Madinat Al Harar, an unpublished history of Harar in the 13th century. According to the account, he along with several other religious leaders traveled to Harar from the Hijaz region of present-day Saudi Arabia in 612H (1216 AD). Sheikh Umar Al-Rida subsequently married a local Harari woman, and constructed the city's Jamia mosque.
Aw (sometimes spelled Au) is an honorific title in the Harari and Somali languages. It is used widely and most commonly in the Somali territories. During his research in the ancient town of Amud, the historian G.W.B. Huntingford noticed that whenever an old site had the prefix Aw in its name (such as the ruins of Awbare and Awbube), it denoted the final resting place of a local saint. It commonly designates a father, respected elder or saint in Harari and Somali languages. Most notably applied to the founder of Harar Aw Abadir. According to Banti Giorgio the term has been adopted by various Somali clans from the Harari language. According to the southern Somali Geledi clan, the appellation Aw was common amongst them and was used “scrupulously” in interactions between the nobles and half casts. Sorcerers among the Arsi Oromo are known as Awan Shan which is derived from the title Aw.

Abadir is also avillage found in metehara oromia region. te village was named after a Sheki who came from arab and settled in harar ethiopia .
Sheikh Abadir Musa Warwaje'le also known as Fiqi Abadir and Saint of Harar, was a Muslim cleric and patron saint of the city of Harar in modern-day eastern Ethiopia. He is regarded as the immediate common patriarch of the Somali Marehan clan, the Harari, and the Halaba.
Ar-Rida is the main figure in the Fath Madinat Harar, an unpublished history of Harar in the 13th century. According to the account, he along with several other religious leaders traveled from the Hijaz region of present-day Saudi Arabia to Harar in 612H (1216 AD). Ar-Rida subsequently married a Harari woman, and constructed the city's Jamia mosque.
In the following years, Sheikh ar-Rida fought several battles against King Karbinal bin Mahrawal, the King's son Jurniyal, his daughter Markanis, and brother Sayadar. Ar-Rida is also mentioned in the lists of Emirs of Harar (the first 391-405H (1000–1014 AD), second 405-411H (1014-1021 AD), and third 458-459H (1065-1067 AD)).
The Somali Sheekhaal clan traces descent to Sheikh Abadir ar-Rida, also known as Fiqi Umar. Ar-Rida in turn traced his lineage to the first caliph, Abu Bakr (Sayid Abubakar Al-Sadiq). According to the explorer Richard F. Burton, Fiqi Umar crossed over from the Arabian Peninsula to the Horn of Africa ten generations prior to 1854, along with his six sons: Umar the Greater, Umar the Lesser, the two Abdillahs, Ahmad, and Siddik.
Sheikh ar-Rida's tomb in Harar is a popular place of pilgrimage.
