Janga Bahadur Rana

Janga Bahadur Rana was a prominent figure in the history of Nepal. Born in 1817, he became the prime minister of Nepal in 1846 after a successful coup d'état. Under his leadership, the Rana regime was established, marking a period of autocratic rule that lasted for over a century. Janga Bahadur Rana was known for modernizing the army, reforming the administration, and maintaining Nepal's independence in the face of British expansion in the region. His regime was characterized by strong centralization, suppression of dissent, and a close alignment with the British Empire.
