Grizzly Bear And The Worm

Worms are… all right, we guess. Don’t get us here at AFV wrong, we don’t NOT like worms. It’s just… you would think there are other things that might be more deserving of one’s attention at any given moment. Like a cat, a dog, a seal, a walrus, a pig, a frog, all these animals are more worthy of impressed gasps than measly earthworms (sorry to all the worm aficionados out there, don’t @ us). Do you know what’s especially, dare we say infinitely, more deserving of one’s attention than a worm? A real live grizzly bear not more than a few feet away!

The scene opens at a nature reserve. A dad is filming a giant grizzly bear, mere yards from the camera at most! He tells his daughter to take a look, admire one of nature’s most magnificent beasts from a distance few people get to experience and live to tell about (you don’t want to be that close without a cage, that’s for sure). To everyone’s bemused chagrin, the little girl could not care less about the beautiful grizzly she can observe up close. No, she’s focused on the tiny little WORM at her feet. A slimy crawly nonentity that basically exists anywhere on earth takes precedence here over one of the rarest, most spectacular mammals in the animal kingdom. Cute, but frustrating.

What’s a parent to do except laugh? There’s really nothing one can do in this situation. She’s made her decision. Worm > Bear. She’s probably the only person on planet earth who feels that way. Luckily for her, dad immortalized this epic judgment lapse so she can at least catch a glimpse of the wonderful bear in retrospect, since she missed him live.
