This Running Back Could Be Special & 1 Kings 5:4-5
Deuce Vaughn was the most dynamic running back against the Raiders.
Hi, I’m Dallas, and I make Dallas Cowboys content that I’d like to watch.
Deuce Vaughn rushed five times for 34 yards, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. After watching the game several times, I was impressed with Harvey, Booth’s open-field tackling, Hall’s coverage, McMath’s contested catches, and Deuce Vaughn. What’s more impressive is that most of Vaughn’s yardage came against the Raiders' starters.
Our offense lacks dynamic players. CeeDee is one, but I’m not sure he’ll play to start the season, and long holdouts often lead to injuries. Hopefully, Vaughn can step up and be the big-play hitter Pollard was two years ago. If he can’t and we don’t find one elsewhere, our offense might struggle in the postseason again.
In some ways, I envy football players because their enemy is clearly defined—the team in the other jerseys. This idea of enemies hit me while reading about David’s life and Psalm 119.
It’s interesting that a man after God’s own heart, like David, had enemies. Jesus had enemies too, and so did the Apostles, most of whom were put to death in awful ways. Then I look at myself and wonder, where are my enemies? I haven’t had one since middle school, and even then, it wasn’t life-threatening.
Do you feel like you have an enemy? I’ve been reflecting on this and started to wonder if the reason I don’t have an enemy is because I’m not living boldly enough for Christ.
I’m not saying Christians should seek enemies, but maybe if you’re living fully for Christ, enemies will find you.
This morning, I read 1 Kings 5, where Solomon was without adversaries for a season, and he used that time to build the temple of God. That’s instructive.
The Apostles and Jesus faced opposition because they were spreading the kingdom of God. And let’s not forget that there’s an entity out to steal, kill, and destroy—Satan. So we’re never really without an enemy.
But in the end, my mission is the same as the Apostles and Solomon: to build the kingdom of God.
That’s all I got. Jesus is King.
