We All Have Our Treasures: Dumpster diving with Lisa Jo, your essential oil girl-confessions

Hey lovelies, Lisa Jo here, your essential oil girl! Today, I want to share a little slice of life from my new home in Lone Tree, Colorado. As many of you know, I moved here from Cocoa Beach, Florida, and I've been on a mission to find my tribe and make some new friends.

During one of my attempts to connect with the community, I went out for what was supposed to be a quick walk. Instead, it turned into an unexpected adventure that really made me think about how we all manage our belongings—and yes, how we sometimes hold on to things we probably shouldn't.

I met a lady on the sidewalk, struggling with a shelf unit. Being me, I couldn't just walk past without offering to help. What was meant to be a 40-minute walk turned into an hour-long chat right there on the street. She shared her frustrations about our apartment's management, especially a guy named Nick—let's just say he's more of an email person than a people person.

The real kicker was when she told me she had only three days to move out after a disagreement with management. While helping her, I realized she was moving her belongings by herself, including trying to salvage things from a dumpster where management had dumped the rest of her stuff. We were dumpster diving for her treasures.

As we dug through the dumpster, I saw firsthand the things she valued—like a water-damaged decorative box she had kept from a flood in her apartment years ago. It reminded her of the past, much like a pamphlet featuring an Army nurse that reminded her of her mother.

This encounter got me reflecting on my own situation. I've been lugging around a giant canvas for painting, which I've moved from Georgia to Cocoa Beach, and now to Lone Tree. It's become a symbol of my artistic aspirations, yet it's also a burden I can't seem to let go of.

So here I am, sharing this story with you all, wondering—what are the treasures you hold on to? What's that one item you can't seem to part with, even though it's just sitting there, maybe even intimidating you like my giant canvas does to me?

Let's chat about it! Drop a comment below and let me know if you've got your version of my canvas or her decorative box. We all have our little quirks, right?
