Brigade intelligence staff for Chernarus 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, issued a warning order to 1st Battalion to form a task force for an operation in Valbono in Leskovets.

The intelligence assessment issued by the brigade intelligence staff of 7th Brigade said that four civilians were arrested and were being held prisoner by separatist forces in the village. According to reports from local friendly agents, the four were accused of espionage and were scheduled to either be executed, or evacuated north to face trial.

The four included one female intelligence operative, her girlfriend, her husband, and her husband's sister, all of whom had undergone a severe interrogation at the hands of the separatists. Local agents requested leave to conduct an extraction operation, but the brigade commander denied them permission, opting for a full scale attack and clear operation on the village.

The task force assembled by 1st Battalion operations staff included two T-72 tanks and three BTR rifle squads, supported by two BRDM scout cars. The tactical plan for the attack on the village was for the tanks to close from the southwest and destroy any enemy vehicles in the area, allowing the infantry sections to advance and begin clearing operations.

Once that was complete, the four operatives could be released and transported back to base.

However, defending the village was an enemy T-72 tank, which fired on our advancing forces continuously, slowing their advance. Tank 1 and 3rd Squad were both destroyed by enemy armor, as Command Squad closed and began clearing operations without their supports.

Command Squad, which doubles as the task force assault element, was unable to move farther north than approximately halfway through the village due to nearly constant enemy counterattacks. Meanwhile, enemy counterattacks using both infantry and vehicles continually pressed down from the north.

During a brief lull in the action, task Force commander was able to release two of the four hostages, the male operative having escaped, and one of the female operatives killed, presumably during interrogation. The remaining two operatives were given first aid and were evacuated south to the village of Leskovets.

Enemy attacks continued. 2nd Squad was wiped out in its defense of the northwestern edge of the village, while Command Squad losses mounted steadily. Task Force commander was killed, and his second in command ordered a retreat back to base.

By this time, the BRDM scout cars already had left and the only remaining vehicles were Tank 2 and Command Squad, both vehicles of which were damaged and unable to move. Command Squad held its position as it awaited the arrival of a repair truck. Once repairs were affected, Command Squad, being the last man out, retreated and returned to base.

Losses were catastrophic. 2nd Squad and 3rd Squad were both destroyed. Tank 1 was destroyed.

Field counts of enemy losses included five UAVs, two BMPs, one BRDM and one tank.

Brigade intelligence staff debriefed the remaining two operatives, and found out that the separatist operation which took over the village was for the singular purpose of capturing the operatives. Originally, the separatists wanted a public trial in the village square, but instead opted to hold the village as transport back to their base was arranged.

It is unknown as of this report how the operatives were discovered.
