Daniel Garcia was found guilty back in May 2024 of injury to a child, 5-year-old, Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo, resulting in death, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and altering/destroying/concealing a human corpse when he and Nickolle Aguilar drove Domenic's lifeless body from Texas to Colorado to try to hide him in a ravine off the side of a mountain.

Nickolle was sentenced to 15 years earlier this month and will testify at Daniel's sentencing as part of her plea agreement.

A summary of the original story is below.

Prosecutors say Daniel Garcia killed 5-year-old, Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo, while they were staying at a San Antonio hotel in July 2021. Daniel Garcia and Nickolle Aguilar, the boy's mother, then allegedly drove to Colorado, where they buried Domenic's body in a remote park west of Denver. The couple then fled to Costa Rica. Investigators found Domenic's body about a month later, assisted by Nickolle Aguilar, in a deep ravine.

Nickolle told authorities Daniel had been extensively physically abusing Domenic. She admitted to not reporting Domenic's death out of fear of losing custody of their other kids.

Garcia is charged with injury to a child resulting in death, altering/destroying/concealing a human corpse, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Nickolle Aguilar agreed to a plea deal and pleaded guilty to causing injury to a child causing serious bodily injury by omission and agreed to testify against Daniel Garcia.
