My Take on the movie Deadpool and Wolverine-Is Swearing Necessary?-Lisa Jo, your essential oil girl
Today, I wanted to share a bit of our movie night experience. So, we decided to go see "Deadpool and Wolverine" – I'm a big fan of action movies like Marvel's Iron Man, Thor, and X-Men. However, this movie had an unexpected twist for us.
Right off the bat, the movie kicked off with language that was a bit too much for our taste. It felt like every other word was a curse, particularly that infamous "F" word. It seemed almost as if the creators had gone back during editing to add more just to ensure they hit some sort of quota. For the first 30 minutes, it was just overwhelming and quite unnecessary, to be honest.
Despite this rocky start, the movie did have its moments. There were parts that were genuinely funny and entertaining, especially with the 3D effects – those were pretty cool, with all the action popping right out at you. There was even this hilariously ugly dog that got some laughs out of us.
However, my boyfriend, who's more into historical dramas and less about guns blazing, was just about tolerating it. He's not a big fan of going to the movies in the first place, and the excessive swearing didn't help. But he stuck it out, probably more for me than his enjoyment.
I wish Hollywood would realize that offensive language doesn't need to be overdone to make a movie engaging. This film could have done just as well, perhaps even better, without trying so hard to be edgy with the curses.
So, if I had to rate "Deadpool and Wolverine," I'd reluctantly give it a three out of ten. The potential was there, but it was buried under unnecessary vulgarity that didn't add to the plot or humor in any meaningful way.
For all my movie buffs here, what do you think? Is this trend of overusing profanity something you've noticed too? Let's chat in the comments below!
