KISSING Doggies!

Russell & Miles love to play together. They chase each other, wrestle, and sometimes they even seem to be kissing!

When dogs appear to be "kissing" and locking their teeth together, they are typically engaging in a form of play or social interaction. This behavior is known as "mouth sparring" or "jaw wrestling." Here’s what it typically means:

1. Play Behavior: Dogs use their mouths much like humans use their hands. When terriers lock teeth or gently bite each other's mouths, it’s usually a playful activity. It's a way for them to test each other's strength, agility, and boundaries in a non-aggressive manner.

2. Social Bonding: This behavior can also be a way for dogs to bond and establish social hierarchies. By engaging in this kind of mouth play, they reinforce their relationships and learn about each other's limits.

3. Exploration and Communication: Dogs explore their world through their mouths, so this behavior can also be a way of communicating and understanding each other better. It’s a non-verbal way of saying, “I trust you” or “Let’s see what you’ll do.”

4. Mimicking Natural Behaviors: In the wild, canines often engage in similar behaviors during play and social interactions, which can help with hunting skills or establishing pack order.

As long as the behavior is mutual and not overly aggressive, it’s generally a normal and healthy interaction for dogs.
