Western politicians and media seem to have trouble picking a story and sticking to it.

Initially, they said Russia was the main culprit behind the destruction of the Nord Stream Pipeline, but somehow, the narrative has now changed to pointing the finger at Ukraine… However, the US had been the only one making public statements about its plans to play with the pipeline as they see fit.
