The Consequences of Living without Christ

Paul is going to continue the argument from verses 2:1-11. Paul introduces the concept of the law in this short paragraph to the Roman church. Paul does a good job setting up the argument that says even though you know the law, the law will not save you. As a matter of fact Paul goes on to say that even though you do not know the law, and you are a good person, you still will face judgment.

Paul starts his argument with the statement, if you sin without the law you will perish without the law and if you sin in the law then you will you will be judged by the law. There is no mincing of words with what Paul is saying, He provides the basis for his argument in verse 11 "There is no partiality with God." He is continuing with this theme reminding all the Jews and the Gentiles that if you live without Christ you will perish without Christ.

There is no way for anyone of us to escape God's judgment. This is an important point that is being made and we have to continually remind ourselves of it often. There is only one way to win and that is if we choose God's Righteousness and live to change our lives through the Lord Jesus Christ.

There are so many people who sit in church waiting to hear the word of God and do absolutely nothing with what they heard. Paul has to remind us that being a doer in the law is what makes the difference in our lives and to God. This is such an important message that Paul gives from the Lord that it goes far beyond the Pauline letters as James recites almost the same instruction (James 1:22-23, 25).

God reminds us that He is the moral standard in the world and that He has given Moses the law. In order to keep the law you must understand and remember what the law is. This is the reason God has written His law on tablets and gave them to Moses (Exodus 24:12). God not only wrote the law on the tablets but He has written His covenant on man's heart (Jeremiah 31:33; 2 Corinthians 3:3).

Receiving and having a relationship with Jesus is the only way into the kingdom of heaven. There is no other path, race or nationality that will get you there. No matter how much the world wants to convince you that being a good person is all we need, that just does not get over the finish line.

I use the analogy of 'the funnel effect' to demonstrate that no one Jew or Gentile is free from the Judgement of Jesus Christ. We will all be funneled to the judgment seat, as for the true believer it is the Bema seat and for the non-believer it is the Great White Throne of Judgment.

God has given all authority to Jesus for His judgment. All men either with the law or with a conscience will be judged by Jesus This is why it becomes critically important to receive Jesus Christ, to know that He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. To live our life for Him and Him alone. Time is short and we need to be on the top of our game ready to be called home. That readiness requires being a doer of the word not just a hearer with no actionable responses to hearing the word of God.

If we actively participate in God's word our lives will change. Those that witness the change in our lives should spark an interest in the lives of those people around us. If we are in God's will the sphere of influence we have will be stronger than ever as we continue to point others to Jesus Christ and continue to pray that every sole we meet will know the Lord Jesus Christ on a more personal level.

My prayer is that if you are struggling with this concept of submission to the Triune God then I would encourage you to stay fast in your word. Read your word daily, multiple times a day. Meditate on God, reflect on His greatness and ask Him to change your life and to bind the enemy that provokes you to sin. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ seek His authority to rebuke the demons that surround you. Lean into His power and strength, His wisdom and knowledge to guide you for protection and to bless you for the rest of your days. In Jesus Mighty Name Amen! Amen!
