His Disciples Came Unto Him

Matthew chapter 5 is the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. The opening verses of the sermon are very well known. There are those that draw comfort from these verses but they do not understand them rightly. People look to this passage and believe that this is how they must live their lives daily. The problem becomes that they do not know Jesus Christ as their Saviour. The Sermon on the Mount is not the gospel of Jesus Christ and yet, many attach to it the same significance that the Gospel has. You do not gain eternal salvation by adhering to the Sermon on the Mount. In the following verses, you read the word “blessed” nine times, but these blessings are only for the born again believer on Jesus Christ. The Gospel – the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is not found in the Sermon on the Mount.
