سینما در حال نمایش فیلم گوزن‌ها، ساخته مسعود کیمیایی است، که شعله‌های آتش زبانه کشید و حریق تمام سالن را در برگرفت و جان صدها نفر را در سینما رکس آبادان گرفت و تراژدی غم انگیزی را رقم زد.
بیش از چهار ده بعد مستند "سینه‌ما رکس" ساخته میترا مهتریان و صادق دهقان به بازخوانی این واقعه از زبان خانواده های جان‌باختگان و شاهدان این حادثه و اثرات آن پس از این سال‌ها پرداخته.
