Why Did They Stick With Rimmed Ammunition?

Recently the Redneck Preppy was asked why militaries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries stuck with rimmed and semi-rimmed ammunition when perfectly good non-rimmed ammunition was available and just plain worked. The reasons may be obvious but the Preppy goes over the rationales in today's video.
