Sly Park History

This episode discusses the Sly Park Recreation Area located in Pollock Pines California. We discuss the history of the Mormon Battalion, and their expedition through the west which led to the discovery of Sly's Park, named after the Soldier who found it: James Calvin Sly. Of course we also dig through the historic record to understand James K. Polk's motivation for mustering the Mormon Battalion into service for the Mexican-American War.
