Dozens of masked Israeli civilians stormed a West Bank village on Thursday night, reportedly looking for a missing boy from their settlement. The village of Jit rapidly spiraled into chaos as the rioters set fire to cars and buildings, threw stones and Molotov cocktails, resulting in 25 people wounded and one Palestinian reportedly killed.

The Israeli Army sent in troops to remove the rioters from the village, and the raid has received unusually strong condemnation from Israeli officials.

‘Those who fight terrorism are the IDF and the security forces, and no one else,’ said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office in a statement, while President Isaac Herzog said, ‘this is not our way and certainly not the way of Torah and Judaism.’

Washington has also condemned the raid and resulting riots. ‘Israeli authorities must take measures to protect all communities from harm, this includes intervening to stop such violence, and holding all perpetrators of such violence to account,’ a White House National Security Council spokesperson said in a statement.
