Great White - Rock Me

Great White, in the fine tradition of first generation L.A. glam band hard rockers Quiet Riot, were known for their classic rock covers, but "Rock Me" demonstrates the bands penchant for updated, heavy handed blues based riffery, made all the more multidimensional by Jack Russell's leonine, occasionally Robert Plant like shriek. Like Cinderella, Great White yearned for rock universality a modest sense of timelessness beyond poodle rock confines and even managed to secure a Grammy nomination for best Hard Rock Performance in 1989, although their place in rock history may unfortunately be forever tied to a fatal fire that erupted during their performance at a Rhode Island nightclub in 2003.
