240814 Zechariah 13

Pastor Scott Craig opens our understanding of Chapter 13 of the Book of Zechariah. God is not against government, He created it and the Bible shows the struggle between God, the people, and the government of Mammon. Remember it is the "kingdom" of God that culminates the end of the Bible. The continuous theme throughout the Bible is God bringing correction to His people when they do not follow His governing precepts instead they follow the governing principles of kings who worship idols.
Anything could be an idol, even "good" things. God says, through the prophet Zechariah, that He will cut off the names of the idols. We should be mindful not to deny the supremacy of YHWH, who has a chosen relationship and promise with the nation of Israel. And by extension, we who are grafted in through the death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah.
The scriptures are aligning with what is happening today in 2024. The world denies the goodness of God's rules or precepts, favoring the deception of the times.
