Sec of Transportation Pete Buttigieg leaves drivers stranded on 100 degree highway for TWO DAYS

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg showed his complete lack of problem-solving skills by recently leaving thousands of drivers stranded on 100° highway for two days in Southern California. A truck carrying lithium batteries had overturned, creating a hazmat situation and the roads were closed with cars on them. Instead of going down to the Ft. Irwin Army base, which is very close to where the overturn occurred and asking the Army Corps of Engineers to create a bridge or some way to get the cars around the hazmat situation and off the highway, people were left in 100+ degree heat for 44 hours. Buttigieg did not show up on the scene nor did he even fly over in a helicopter, but he did come to Vegas a couple weeks later to cut the ribbon on a brand new street project and talk about the fact that high-speed rail would've solved the I-15 situation. So I guess the train would have been allowed to pass the lithium spill?

This is just another example of incompetence from bureaucrats who are not problems solvers. I spoke to a friend who is a retired USMC Three Star General who had not heard of the situation on the I-15, and he was stunned that they hadn't called Fort Irwin in for help. This is a man who has overseen troops and bases in places like Iraq and Somalia. Army engineers can put tanks on beaches. I'm certain they could have found a way to get the passenger cars, and according to the General, even the big rigs off of that highway and onto safety, had they been asked. After all, this is what they do. It's frightening to think that Pete couldn't even handle the situation like, that much less all the other problems we have in this country regarding transportation. But I'd never expect more for the Biden administration.
