My Grandfather

This is a song that is dedicated to the people like Bill Willis, Ira Hutto, and so many others who helped build a nation. The farmers of the 50's and 60' rellly paved the way in Florida for our vacation income. No food, no people. It is amazing to hear stories about Amlong rd and how a young man used to spend summers working and being a free kid to drive at 10 years old. The story of the day the Stensons son came running, screaming for help for his dog. A 5in 6 ft long rattlesnake had attacked the boys dog, and grandpa went and shot the snake. GrandFather Wilbur Willis is said to have kept his cool, and just did what needed to be done. A different time for sure.It was these people who we will, who I willl forever hold dear in my heart. My Grandmother is a native to this region, and longs to have her feet in the soil, the soil of her ancestors.....

Lyrics:
[Verse] Grandfather worked that old soil Hands rough from years of toil Morning sun to evening light Made sure we slept well at night

[Verse 2] Crops grew tall under his care Love and sweat were everywhere Old barn would whisper to me Little country boy at heart I'll always be

[Chorus] My grandfather tilled this land Fed his family with the blood of his hand The farms long gone, and so is he But that dirt will always remain his legacy

[Verse 3] Memories in the wind do blow In the fields where he would sow Hay stacked high in the barn Warmth and love kept us from harm

[Chorus] My grandfather tilled this land Fed his family with the blood of his hand The farm long gone and so is he But that dirt will always remain his legacy

[Spoken] Seasons changed but he stood proud Under skies both clear and cloud Roots run deep like old oak trees In this earth that felt his pleas.....

[Chorus] My grandfather tilled this land Fed his family with the blood of his hand The farm long gone and so is he But that dirt will always remain his legacy
