Vanessa Xiao lives in Carmel and is an eighth-grade student at Park Tudor School. She's one of six Hoosier students competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this year. Being a good speller runs in her family, her brother Victor also made it to the National Spelling Bee four years ago.
