Whilst we and the rest of our community appreciate Mareeba Shire Councils unusually quick reopening of the River Walk, thanks to the Disaster Relief Funding they received (or about to receive) from the Federal Government, we would also appreciate them coming back soon to do something - anything to at least make it look like somebody cares.
Give what grass has grown back a mow, whippersnip the weeds you've poisoned and left to die, properly level the areas you haven't so the grass can be easily mowed when it eventually does come back. Clean the dirt and sand from under the one unbroken seat we have left down there, put the recently placed, new wayfinding sign back in the ground...
Grade the ruts along the walk you created when you cleared the track, blow the leaves and dirt off the concrete path further up before somebody does slip over, break something and sue us for damages. I say us because it will ultimately be the Ratepayers who will be paying ANY compensation claim made against the Council.
Thousands of visitors are coming into our town everyday right now and this is what they see when/if they walk down to the waterfront.
It's just not good enough Peter Franks and Andrew Foster!
