Last week, Serbian authorities recovered a Nazi warship sunk in 1944 in the Danube near Prahovo.

The ship, one of 200 intentionally scuttled by German forces to prevent capture by the advancing Russian army, was found laden with explosives.

Serbia’s Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Goran Vesić, announced that this recovery is part of a broader effort to remove 21 sunken vessels, with plans to eventually raise around 80 more.

The presence of these wrecks has hindered navigation and raised environmental concerns for decades, The Jerusalem Post has reported.
