Wherever there’s water on Earth, there’s life. But does that apply beyond our planet? NASA's Europa Clipper mission aims to explore Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa, which is considered one of the most promising locations in our solar system for finding environments that might support life due to its subsurface ocean.

While the Europa Clipper is not specifically designed to detect life, it will be the first mission to conduct an in-depth survey of this icy moon, addressing key questions about its habitability and composition. The mission's primary objectives include determining the thickness of Europa’s icy shell, confirming the existence of its ocean, analyzing its composition, and studying the surface geology. The spacecraft will orbit Jupiter and perform approximately 50 flybys of Europa, equipped with a powerful array of instruments that will work together to collect crucial data.
