The extra security is due to a 13-year-old Alger Middle School student being shot on May 21st by another boy while they had left the building and went to a splash pad next door. Door alarms have been added to that school and are ordered for three other middle schools, and an extra security officer will be on duty at Alger this year. One mother asked the school board last night how they are supposed to trust the district to look after their children.
