This week has been a rollercoaster of unpredictability, especially in the world of rideshare. I’ve been struggling with the slow season, where every day feels different from the last, and what worked one day might not work the next. Despite the usual weekend hustle, I found myself cutting my nights short, realizing that the extra hours weren’t worth the meager earnings. It’s been a tough go, but I’m just rolling with the punches, cleaning my car, and keeping an open mind about what Sunday might bring.

The unpredictable nature of rideshare is really hitting hard, and this week was no exception. Despite seeing the college kids return, they haven’t been going out much, leaving the nights quieter than expected. I’ve had to juggle between Uber and Lyft, but Uber’s been throwing me in standard mode for canceling too much, which means I’m missing out on the good rides. Lyft, on the other hand, has been more reliable, sending me consistent rides, even if the pay is slightly lower. I’m thinking Lyft might be my go-to for a while, especially with the way Uber’s been acting up.

I’ve been all over Miami this week, from Wynwood to Brickell, to the less glamorous areas where rides don’t pay much, but at least keep me moving. The airport runs have been especially frustrating with the wait times and the hassle of navigating the lot. It’s hard not to compare the $5 Uber offers with the $9 Lyft rides that get me closer to home. At this point, I’m leaning more and more toward Lyft, but I can’t help but wonder if I’d be better off sticking to one app. The battle between Uber and Lyft continues, but for now, Lyft is winning, at least until the weekday lull hits again.

Despite all the ups and downs, it’s been a decent week overall. I’ve had some good rides, interesting conversations, and plenty of time to think about the future of rideshare driving in Miami. I’m not sure what next week will bring, but I’m ready for whatever comes my way. Maybe I’ll stick with Lyft, maybe I’ll give Uber another shot, but one thing’s for sure—I’m going to keep hustling, no matter what.
