08/12/2024 Bloomberg’s financial reporter James Mayger: That foreign investment in China fell in the second quarter of this year is because yields and investment environment in the U.S. and other developed economies are better than those in China and many foreign companies are not able to compete in the Chinese market against local companies like BYD anymore. Chinese companies’ outbound investment hit a record $71 billion, it’s driven by their attempts to take advantage of the demand for their goods and avoid high tariffs.
