Columbia Catacombs New Entrance Discovered | Exploring Secret Civil War Tunnels | 2nd Entrance

At the request of the discoverer of this entrance, its location will remain secret and will not be disclosed even if you are a paid Adventure Uncharted member. This location was shown to us in confidence and is not known by the USC Archaeology Department or the City of Columbia. This new entrance leads to a new section of the Columbia Catacombs, which the city believed was completely closed off. We were unable to progress past the waterfall but will return and explore in a later episode.

The Columbia Catacombs predate the Civil War and were used to move troops and supplies back and forth throughout the city. They were also used during the prohibition to brew liquor and move it undetected throughout the city. There are rumors of large rooms and many other mysterious relics from the Civil War and the prohibition. They are called the Catacombs because the original discovered was a USC student in 1888 who found an entrance in the basement of DeSaussure College at the Horseshoe, which is the oldest section of USC. The students who went with him described skeletal remains of multiple people including a Civil War Soldier, a young African American girl who he was protecting, and several other remains.

We have reason to believe that the tunnel behind the waterfall may lead to this original section of catacombs described in the diary, and will be going back to confirm or deny this.
