Mildred Pierce (1945)

Directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Joan Crawford in the title role. The film follows Mildred Pierce, a determined and resourceful woman who rises from being a struggling housewife to a successful businesswoman after separating from her unfaithful husband. Driven by her desire to provide a better life for her two daughters, particularly her selfish and ungrateful elder daughter Veda (Ann Blyth), Mildred opens a chain of popular restaurants.
