What is the difference between robbery and theft?

The difference between theft and robbery is that theft is merely stealing someone's property, whereas robbery is using force or fear to take property from a person's immediate possession. So theft is a less serious property crime. Robbery is a more serious violent crime.

Who are the elderly often victimized by?

Studies have demonstrated that while elderly individuals are most commonly maltreated by family members or ac- quaintances, violent victimizations reported to the police are most commonly perpetrated by strangers.

The generally accepted definition of emotional elder abuse is the “intentional infliction of anguish, pain, or distress through verbal or nonverbal acts.” This includes threatening, harassing, intimidating, and attempting to humiliate an elderly individual.

Why does our society rob, humiliate, put down or generally treat poorly individuals over 60? have been trying to find those answers.

Penal Code § 368 PC defines elder abuse as the physical or emotional abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation of a victim 65 years of age or older. This offense can be prosecuted as a misdemeanor or a felony and is punishable by up to 4 years of jail or prison

Who are the most common victims of robbery?
