Dear Pastor Bob: I was looking through your SIM list and I can't find anything about fasting. I'm a bit confused about this subject. So many churches are talking about fasting: 1, 3, even 21 day fasts. The Bible says that Daniel fasted and after 21 days he got the answer. It wasn't a set time. He fasted until God answered.What's the true purpose of fasting? I seriously can't find or understand the true meaning behind fasting. If God tells us to do something, it should bring us closer to him. What are we supposed to do during fasting according to the Bible? I've tried fasting for a day and just spending time in the Word and listening to God. At the end of the day I was hungry and grumpy. Didn't feel at all closer to God. And then the whole point of fasting is lost, right? Jesus says WHEN you fast, not IF! I'm confused.
