The Urban Legend About Gang Members You Should Know

There's this urban legend out there that if you flash your lights at a car with its headlights off, the gang members in the car will chase you and kill you. That's not true. Listen to Josh Clark as he explains very clearly for you!

Have you ever heard that you should never flash your light at somebody who's driving in their car at night without their light on? Because it's probably a gang member who will chase you down and kill you and everyone else in the car? That is untrue!

See, what you've got there is called an urban legend which is another word for a lie and in this urban legend which originated in the early 80's the idea is that gangs initiate new members by sending them out onto the streets at night to drive around in their cars without their lights on. Then whoever is the first person to flash their lights to warn them that their lights are off, they have to turn around to chase and kill. Then they're in the gang!

Like Josh said before people who study these kinds of things had traced this particular urban legend back to the early 1990's and in particular the gang was 'Hells Angels'. But as the 80's progressed the gangs in the urban legend had grown more and more. What makes this urban legend an actual urban legend is that it never happened despite all the warnings that have been sent via fax and via email!

So the next time you flash your lights at somebody who is driving around after dark without their lights on and they chase you down to kill you as part as a gang initiation, you set them straight and tell them it's an urban legend and tell them Josh sent you!
