What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? Matthew 18:12

All of us have experienced moments in life when we found ourselves completely and utterly lost and in desperate need of assistance. It's in those times we are humbly reminded we are not as in control of things as we think or care to admit.

What if I told you that apart from Jesus we all are lost and in need of his hope and direction?

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, everyone, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
- Isaiah 53:6

The world we now live in is selfish and self-serving and puts value on things that never satisfy. We are told our worth is based on what we have attained and social status while ignoring character, respect, and above all love.

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
- 2 Timothy 3:2

From the moment Jesus began his early ministry, he always sought out those who were rejected, castaways, loners, and those considered unloveable. Pure love does not discriminate based on anything other than selfless care and concern for others' needs.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God - 1 John 4:7

What's even more amazing is that even after we have placed our trust in him for salvation we can still choose to walk away or become misled by others from following after him but his love for us is so deep that he chases after us like a lost sheep from the flock and offers us the chance to be reconciled.

By this, we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren - 1 John 3:16
