Based on this belief, Japan's mission as the only country to have suffered atomic bombings in war is to tirelessly promote realistic and practical efforts toward the realization of a "world without nuclear weapons."

And it is precisely because the situation surrounding nuclear disarmament is becoming increasingly serious, with the international community's rifts deepening over nuclear disarmament and the Russian nuclear threat, that we continue to appeal to the world to make Nagasaki the site of the last atomic bomb.
