SR-71 Engine Design

Computers were in their infancy when SR-71 was built back in 1950-1960. Because the existing computers were bulky they couldn’t put them on the J-58 engines that propelled the aircraft. Instead, they used analog computers using hydraulics with a network of pipes instead of digital circuits to control the engines.
