If this isn't a conflict of interest than I don't know what is. Jeannine Turgeon was a Judge in Dauphin County Pennsylvania that handled child support and custody cases and her husband Luther Milspaw was an attorney in the same county and he handled family law cases. Before a custody case goes in front of the judge they hold a Custody mediation hearing where a third-party mediator try's to resolve the matter and make an agreement without going in front of a judge. Custody Mediators are lawyers and they practice law in front of the same judges they mediate for. Perfect example, if someone hires attorney Luther Milspaw as their attorney the custody mediator is more likely to side with that party. Though a custody mediator doesn't make rulings they do write recommendations that influence the cases. It's kind of hard to go against the judges husband because you have to trial cases in front of her. They did a pretty good job at hiding the fact that they were married and if my former attorney wouldn't have told me I would've never known. I had a hard time finding the proof and not just because of the different last name, but after some digging I found it.
