Propitiation = appeasement, ἱλασμός hilasmos in the Greek, a singular noun referring to Yeshua as the Only One. Yeshua is more than a temporary covering, a stronger word than atonement in that atonement was required over and over pointing to the need and prophesied permanent appeasement…Yeshua.
Rather John is illustrating the importance of staying in the plan of GOD. Again, NOT that they will lose their salvation, otherwise we might wonder just how powerful was Yeshua’s death, and Resurrection.
ROM 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of GOD is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD.
Our condition this side of Heaven has sin, but our position in Christ Yeshua gives us eternal life. Without Yeshua, the penalty of spiritual death exists and awaits all unbelievers.
PHI 3:20-21, For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to HIS glorious body, according to the working by which HE is able even to subdue all things to HIMself.
