Eternal youth, always a dream of humanity. ENG GER SUBS
Eternal youth, always a dream of humanity. Old and sick people come from everywhere and feel like newborns after bathing in the spring. What if such a rejuvenating elixir actually exists? Blood is the juice of life, but can young blood also rejuvenate an old body? The first evidence of this was the research on blood stem cells. If we transplant stem cells of young donors to older recipients in medicine, then these cells receive the youthful signature, even if they live in the old organism. Hematologist Florian Heidel examines the stem cells that form the blood, because they influence our aging process. This means that the young stem cells have a better regeneration ability for the organism and, of course, can produce blood longer and better, which is important for the patient's healing process. If the entire organism becomes younger, there is very short data that shows that certain proteins that can be detected in plasma and blood can rejuvenate certain organs or improve their function. And he found it out, the Alzheimer's researcher Tony Wiskoray. He wanted to know whether the brain can be rejuvenated by young blood and conducted experiments on mice. He connected the blood vessels of a young and an old mouse. Like Siamese twins, they now shared the same blood. And look, the blood of the young mouse made the old one fit again. Their brain cells worked better, neuronal stem cells were activated. The result? A better memory and fewer inflammation in the brain. In addition, their bones became firmer and their skin shinier. But what exactly affects the blood when it is young? The blood cells? To find out, the researchers gave the old mouse only blood plasma. The plasma is the liquid part of the blood and does not contain blood cells. Nevertheless, the same rejuvenation effect was shown. Plasma consists of proteins. Are they the key? The researchers heated the plasma to over 40 degrees. This destroys all proteins. After that, the plasma did not work anymore. So it's down to the proteins. Each of these mice now gets blood plasma with other proteins. So the researchers want to find exactly those from around 10,000 proteins in the plasma that could perhaps also rejuvenate us humans. I think if we have identified the components, then in the future we may be able to avoid aging processes that lead to an absence of organ function. So to stop or avoid degenerative processes. And these degenerative processes can ultimately lead to diseases. I think this is the relevant point, that we enable a good and healthy aging without degenerative processes and diseases. But does the whole thing even work with human blood plasma? To find out, the researchers asked young students for blood donations and donated their plasma to an old mouse. And they were allowed. Whether this actually works with humans is currently being investigated in the first clinical studies. The effectiveness has not yet been proven. Experts warn of possible side effects of transfusions. From allergic reactions, there are foreign proteins that can be detected by the immune system, up to infectious diseases, which have become very rare in transmission, but can still be transmitted. So we have to consider a healthy organism in this situation, which is aging, but which does not show any signs of disease, to expose it to the risk of transfusion. And I think that is highly questionable. But an American company had no problem with it. It sold paid old people for 8,000 dollars young plasma and called for the mouse experiments. The American supervisory authorities have now stopped this business with young blood and warn of such transfusions. But what if at some point, instead of mice, humans are treated and not the sick person gets plasma, but the old person who can afford it? The bathhouse in Jungbrunnen would be reality. Only the admission would be free of cost or risk.
