Late Season Waterfowl Weekend, From A Panel Blind

During a late season December weekend in Ohio we scouted a field full of honkers next to their roost. After gaining permission, we decide to try out a new set of Tanglefree Panel Blinds. We knew the there was precipitation forecasted, but it wasn't yet clear if it would be rain, snow, or something in-between. We started Saturday off with a wet freezing rain that changed to snow, covering our decoys and making it difficult to finish birds. No honkers ever gave us a look, but we had many passing flights of mallards, and group of pintails, and a flock of snow geese.

On Sunday we moved to the other side of the field, ready for ducks and geese, however only honkers were flying. Our setup wasn't ideal as birds had to pass over us to get into the spread, causing them to keep their distance. Our shooting was mediocre at best this weekend but we downed a variety of species that you don't always get a chance at in Ohio.
