The chess world is in shock after Russian chess champion Amina Abakarova, 43, was caught attempting to poison her childhood rival, Umayganat Osmanova, by covering her chess pieces in deadly mercury. The incident occurred during a tournament in Makhachkala, southern Russia, last week.
