Teen Sentenced to Prison for Attacking Teacher’s Aide

A student who attacked a teacher's aide was sentenced to prison. It turns out that Brendan Depa, who was 17 years old at the time of the attack, is autistic and has several other disorders. His mother says he has the emotional maturity of a 6-year-old. His adoptive mom fought back tears as she begged the judge for mercy. However, the judge said the video showed a level of unprovoked brutality he could not ignore. He sentenced the teen to five years in prison and 15 years probation.
