I became an activist because I was a soldier in the Israeli army
On Wednesday, July 24, an event for U.S. members of Congress, their staff, and the media was held as an alternative to the address of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the U.S. Congress.
During the event CAP President and CEO Patrick Gaspard talked to Breaking the Silence Executive Director Nadav Weiman about the situation in Gaza, his experience as a former IDF soldier in the West Bank, and what brought him to break his silence and become an anti-occupation activist.
The event which was moderated by Win Without War Executive director Sara Haghdoosti also included talks with Palestinian and Israeli peace activists Aziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon.
The event was held and sponsored by the Center for American Progress alongside Americans for Peace Now, the Center for International Policy, Common Defense, the Middle East Democracy Center, and Win Without War.
