The decision was then taken to integrate the T-80UD turrets into the modified T-80BV chassis.
The tanks received the GDT-1250 turbine, similar to the one present on the T-80BVM (BV modernisation). Many subsystems were changed, the FCS modernised etc.
This modification was favourably distinguished from the "ordinary" T-80U by the presence of a thermographic sight "Plisa" ("Плиса") with the French Catherine-FC matrix from Thales. In general, the sight is similar to the Esse, previously installed on T-90A tanks, but inferior to the more modern Sosna-U.

The installation of explosive reactive armor on the upper glacis plate and the sides of the hull increases the chassis protection to the level of the T-80U.
