Did the Founding Fathers Want Atlantis?

Did America's founding fathers really start a revolution resulting in the loss of their lives, family and property just to avoid some taxes? Or... did they want to contribute to a greater project? The great work of returning humanity to the glory of the time of Atlantis. I don't know, but it's fun to think about!
