Maui Wildfire Settlement

Hawaiian Electric, Hawaiian Electric Industries (HEI), the state of Hawaii, the County of Maui, Kamehameha Schools, West Maui Land Co., Hawaiian Telecom, and Spectrum/Charter Communications have agreed on a proposed settlement with individual and class plaintiffs' lead attorneys. Subject to final documentation and court approval, the defendants will collectively pay over $4 billion to resolve all claims related to the August 8, 2023, Maui windstorms and wildfires. HEI and Hawaiian Electric's share is $1.99 billion (pre-tax), which includes $75 million previously donated for the One 'Ohana Initiative.
